Gkamis The Gkamis is a very light cotton shirt worn under the Zipouna. This is many times is mistaken for a women's nightgown. Tarapouloz The tarapouloz is the belt that some women and men wore to, not only keep there clothes together but also to help support the back. Was made of fine silk and cotton material. The most distinctive part was the handing tassels which sat on one side of the material. The Tarapouloz, sat nicely and firmly around a women's waste. After being folded in a triangle the longest end would sit at the back part of the woman. The Tarapouloz was either tucked into each other, pined together or folded over itself, like a rolled up sleeve (just the other way). Like the Lahor, the Tarapouloz was always worn above the waste, just under the breasts, added more support and a lifting effect.
Lahor The most commonly seen belt worn by the Pontian women (and still today) is the Lahor. The lahor, unlike the Tarapouloz, is made of a thick cotton and is only worn by the women. It has several methods of being tied to the body. It is first folded in half to create a 3 sided triangle. Then the 2 fare ends are tied together just above the waist (under the breast).
Zibun, Zipuna The Zipouna is the main part of the outfit, a dress like design it covers the body from neck to the ankle.
